Trojans get top seed in girls rugby

The busiest stretch of the high school season began on Monday and will continue until the various OFSAA championships that will wrap up on June 4.

Forest Heights emerged as the No. 1 seed in the WCSSAA girls rugby tournament after a final round of regular-season games on Monday. The Trojans will take on the ninth-ranked Grand River Renegades in the mini-tournament that is being held at Jacob Hespeler on Wednesday.

Also Mondays WCSSAA rugby games have been called off by the soggy fields and the slo-pitch season is also on hold.

Badminton today and updated schedules

A full day of WCSSAA senior boys rugby action is going on at University Stadium, but in the interest of spreading the love (and staying warm), the destination today in Conestoga College and the CWOSSA senior badminton championship.

Still with rugby,here are the changes to next weeks schedules. Because of soggy fields, all games are at University Stadium

Weather prompts cancellations, moves

The forecast for a rainy weekend has prompted WCSSAA to cancel boys and girls soccer games scheduled for next Tuesday, while games scheduled for Thursday are now tentative.

All Waterloo Region District School Board fields will remain closed until further notice.

The RIM Park turf fields are closed next week for maintenace.

Boys and girls rugby schedules are also affected, as all games scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday will be moved to University Stadium. A schedule will follow shortly, upon confirmation of referee availability.

Games scheduled for next Thursday and Friday are now listed as tentative. University Stadium is not available on those days.

On a brighter and much lighter note, its not every day you see a “soccer parent” cheering against his child, but thats kind of, sort of what happened during Tuesdays District 8 girls soccer game between St.
