Kids In Need Resource Center needs supplies

It’s just a packet of pencils here…a couple of notebooks there.
But sometimes they just can’t be squeezed out of a family’s already skintight budget.
That’s where Broward Education Foundation’s in Pompano Beach comes in. It’s part of a program providing free school supplies to students and teachers in Broward’s low-income schools.
But even the center’s supplies need replenishing.
So it’s holding a Tools for Schools supply drive.
Waste Management is providing containers that will be transformed into objects d’art by local students and placed in participating businesses and McDonald’s restaurants from July 30 through Aug. 14.
The supply drive’s kick-off event (complete with Ronald McDonald, a Waste Management truck and music by Y-100), takes place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 30 at McDonald’s restaurant, 300 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.
Bring a school supply donation (for example pencils, dry erase markers, paper, composition books, glue sticks) and get a McDonald’s coupon.
On Friday we’ll post pictures of the artwork chosen to transform the containers and where they’ll be located.
