Medina Gymnastics Academy competes at Girl Power Invitational

The Medina Gymnastics Academy’s Level 8 team took home a first-place trophy at the Girl Power Invitational in Cincinnati. Members of the Level 8 squad in this photo submitted by Shelly Mattox were, front, from left, Jessica Froncek, Izzy Barnes and Jenna Mattox; and back, Danielle Stewart, Dylana DiPietro, Kira Palmer, Sami Borrelli and Natalie Radice. Athletes from the Medina Gymnastics Academy competed at the recent Girl Power Invite in Cincinnati.

In Level 8, Sami Borrelli was fourth on vault and fifth in the all around and on floor. Jessica Froncek placed fourth on beam while Izzy Barnes placed fourth on bars. Jenna Mattox tied for third on floor. Kira Palmer tied for fourth on vault. Danielle Stewart and Natalie Radice had strong showing on beam and Dylana DiPietro was solid on floor.

In Prep Optional Gold, Megan Sievers was first on bars (9.05), balance beam (9.475), floor (9.45) and all-around (36.9). She was second on vault.

In Prep Optional Silver, Avery Kasian was first on bars with a 9.4 and floor with a 9.5. She was second in the all-around with a 36.4 and placed fourth on vault.

At the Frogtown Invitational held in Toledo, in Prep Optional Gold, Eileen Piernik placed second on beam with a 9.2, second on floor with a 9.425 and second all-around with a 36.425.

Sievers placed first in all categories, scoring 9.25 on vault, 9.55 on bars, 9.5 on beam, 9.5 on floor and 37.8 in the all-around. The team placed third.

In Level 8, for the 12-and-under age group, Froncek placed second on bars, second on beam, first on floor with a 9.025, and second all around.

Mattox placed first on vault, third on bars and third in all-around. Barnes placed third on vault, first on bars with a 9.1, third on floor and fourth in the all-around. DiPietro placed third on beam and fifth all-around.

In the 13-14 age group, Dylan Poleondakis placed first on bars with a 9.1. Stewart placed fifth on bars, fourth on beam, third on floor with a 9.05 and third all around. Palmer turned in solid performances on beam and floor.

The team was crowned Champion, earning a trophy for its performance.
