Teachers dig into history at Raleigh park
Archaeologists from UNC-Chapel Hill and teachers from kindergarten through high school spent last week excavating an area of Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh. The site is thought to have been a miller’s home. Teachers learned how they could bring archaeology into their classrooms in a real way. The on-site workshop was paid for by a state grant. The dig continued Saturday.
