Gaels, Highlanders in final

The Cameron Heights Gaels will meet the Sir John A. Macdonald Highlanders on Wednesday in the championship game of the Waterloo County senior boys basketball championship.

Both teams also earned berths in the Central Western Ontario quad-A championship with their semifinal playoff victories on Saturday night. CWOSSA will be held on Friday and Saturday at Resurrection.

The Gaels advanced with a 65-54 win over the Grand River Renegades in the opening game of the doubleheader, while the Highlanders needed overtime to beat the Forest Heights Trojans 61-56.

Stefan Cucak and Amjed Osman both had 16 points for the Gaels, while Osama Qawash and Filip Cvrkalj both had 12 for the Renegades.

Edem Ame was outstanding for the Highlanders, scoring 27 points. Ben Reyhani added 15. Javon Masters had 19 and Kieran McAndrew had 17 for the Trojans.

Wednesdays title game is set for 8:30 p.m. at Cameron Heights.
